Newborn’s body recovered from Chandpur river

Police have recovered the body of a newborn baby from the Dakatia River in Hajiganj upazila in the district.

Alamgir Hossain Roni, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station, said locals spotted the body floating beneath the Bolakhal-Natehar Bridge around 7 pm on Monday and informed the law enforcers.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Police suspected that the body might have been thrown in the river two days ago.
